Yin Yoga
The Yin yoga training is designed in essence of the yin and yang philosophy. The Taoist philosophy of yin and yang focuses on the principle of polarity. Accordingly, it is believed that the two forces of yin and yang are opposite and complimentary to each other. Yin yoga is indeed a very slow, peaceful and subtle style of yoga that provides a calming effect to the body. The time duration of holding a certain pose in yin yoga is a minimum of five minutes. What is Yin Yoga?
Yin yoga is a subtle style of yoga which is based on the Taoist principle. In other words, the practice of yin yoga is done to enhance the yin aspects of the principle. What is more is that this style of yoga targets the deep connective tissue in the human body. The postures that are practiced are in particular passive in nature. In addition, the postures soften the muscle and relax the bones. Although, the time duration of holding a certain posture can vary, usually it ranges from 2 minutes to 5 minutes. Overall time spent in holding a certain posture in yin yoga is in a similar way to the time spent while meditating. Consequently, yin yoga can be considered as a form of meditation and not just yoga.
